Luggage storage facilities are available at the Historical Main Entrance. See the section on arriving by bicycle for more information.

A charging station for electric cars is available in Ringstraße car park.

There are two options for using the charging station:

  1. With a “Ladekarte” charging card: Simply hold the RFID card against the charging station to access a charging point. This is the ideal option for regular users. The “Ladekarte” is available from Forst’s local utilities company (Stadtwerke Forst) as well as from countless other cooperation and roaming partners. For an overview of the partner cards accepted at the charging station, see www.lademap.ladenetz.de/.
  2. Via the ladepay app: Charge your electric vehicle without a charging card. An online app enables fast and convenient access to the charging station. It can be opened using any internet-capable mobile device via the browser. Simply scan the QR code at the charging station and you’ll be directed straight to ladepay. You can then select the desired charging point, the charge duration and your preferred method of payment. The charge is then billed quickly and easily via PayPal and you can start charging your electric car right away.

Charging station operator: Stadtwerke Forst GmbH

The Lusatian Neisse is one of the last natural rivers in Germany. The sections further downstream are ideal for water sports due to the relatively fast current and white water sections.

It is not possible to pass through the weir to the River Neisse! Please turn left into the weir to the mill race and pass through the fish ladder instead. (Boarding and disembarkation points are available on the German side.) A small surge draws boats through the fish ladder at the left weir in the mill race.

  • Note: There are four bridges through the town that boats have to be carried over via entry and exit points.
  • If possible, this section of the River Neisse should not be navigated, as there are not yet any entry and exit points. There are too many obstacles in the riverbed, such as debris from blown-up bridges.
  • The River Neisse can only be accessed by boat from the entrance at “Lange Brücke” (51.743925,14.657655).

Nearest boating stopover point (approx. 2 km):

The landing stage of Forst’s water sports club (Wassersport Forst e. V.) has been recognised by the German canoeing association (DKV) as a canoe station with boathouse. The surfaced entry/exit point is ideal for getting in and out of boats. On request, it is possible to use the toilets and showers in the boathouse. Tents can be pitched on the large grass area. It is also possible to book rooms in the boathouse in advance.
